Personalized, Evidence-Informed Naturopathic Care

At Okanagan Integrative Health, our naturopathic doctors take the time to understand your health history, current concerns and individual goals. Naturopathic medicine combines modern medical knowledge with nutrition, lifestyle medicine, appropriate diagnostic testing, nutraceuticals, prescription medications and other evidence-informed treatment options.

Our West Kelowna naturopathic team includes Dr. Kyla Stewart, ND, Dr. Lauren Rea, ND and Dr. Rachelle Peltier, ND, each bringing different areas of clinical focus to the practice.

Whether you are looking for help investigating an ongoing health concern, support for hormonal or digestive health, fertility and reproductive care, integrative cancer support, IV therapy, sports medicine or advanced injection therapies, our goal is to develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs.

What Can a Naturopathic Doctor Help With?

Naturopathic medicine can be used to evaluate and manage a wide range of health concerns. Rather than using the same treatment approach for every patient, your naturopathic physician will review your health history, symptoms, medications, lifestyle and goals before recommending appropriate next steps.

Patients commonly visit our West Kelowna naturopathic doctors for:

  • Women’s health, hormones, perimenopause and menopause
  • Fertility and reproductive health
  • Digestive and gut health concerns
  • Fatigue and energy concerns
  • Metabolic health and weight management
  • Nutritional assessment and nutrient deficiencies
  • Integrative cancer care
  • Sports injuries and musculoskeletal concerns
  • Chronic pain
  • IV nutrient therapy
  • Iron infusions
  • Acupuncture
  • Prescription medication management when appropriate
  • Nutraceutical and supplement recommendations
  • General health and wellness optimization

Your treatment plan will depend on your individual presentation and may involve one or several approaches.

A Comprehensive Approach to Your Health

Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine

Nutrition, sleep, movement, stress and other lifestyle factors can play an important role in overall health. Your naturopathic doctor can help identify areas that may be contributing to your symptoms and develop realistic strategies that fit your lifestyle.

Recommendations may include dietary modifications, exercise, sleep strategies, stress management or other changes based on your individual health goals.

Laboratory & Diagnostic Testing

Testing may be recommended when it can provide useful information for clinical decision-making.

Depending on your health history and concerns, your naturopathic doctor may review existing bloodwork, order appropriate laboratory investigations or discuss additional testing options when clinically indicated.

The goal is not to order unnecessary testing, but to use appropriate information to better understand your health and guide treatment.

Nutraceuticals & Supplements

Vitamins, minerals, herbs and other nutraceuticals may be incorporated into a treatment plan when appropriate.

Our naturopathic physicians consider your medical history, medications, laboratory findings and treatment goals before making recommendations. This is particularly important for patients taking prescription medications or receiving other medical treatments because supplements can sometimes interact with medications.

Prescription Medications

Our naturopathic physicians with prescriptive authority may incorporate prescription medications when clinically appropriate and within their scope of practice.

Naturopathic care does not have to mean choosing between conventional medicine and natural therapies. Our approach is to use the treatment options that make the most sense for the individual patient.

Women’s Health, Hormones & Fertility

Hormonal and reproductive health concerns can affect many stages of life.

Our naturopathic team provides individualized assessment and treatment for concerns including menstrual and ovulatory disorders, PCOS, fertility, perimenopause, menopause, metabolic health and other hormone-related concerns.

Dr. Rachelle Peltier, ND has a particular clinical focus in women’s health, fertility and reproductive medicine and has additional experience observing reproductive endocrinology and gynecology care in a fertility-clinic setting.

Care may involve laboratory assessment, nutrition and lifestyle strategies, nutraceuticals, prescription medications where appropriate, IV therapy or other individualized treatments.

Sports Medicine, Joint Pain & Injection Therapies

Naturopathic medicine at Okanagan Integrative Health also extends into musculoskeletal and sports medicine.

Dr. Lauren Rea, ND has a clinical focus in sports medicine, chronic pain and advanced injection therapies. Her treatment options include ultrasound-guided procedures and other injection therapies for appropriate patients.

Available treatments may include:

Prolotherapy | Botox® | Corticosteroid Injections  | Neural Therapy | Trigger Point Injections

Dr. Rea also provides cosmetic and therapeutic neuromodulator treatments, acupuncture and IV nutrient therapy.

Injection therapy is not appropriate for every injury. An assessment is used to determine the likely source of symptoms, discuss available treatment options and determine whether an injection procedure may be appropriate.

Integrative Cancer Care

Dr. Kyla Stewart, ND has a clinical focus in integrative cancer care in addition to digestive health, women’s health, chronic fatigue and general wellness.

Integrative cancer care is designed to complement rather than replace conventional oncology treatment.

Care may focus on supporting patients before, during or after conventional treatment while considering nutrition, symptoms, quality of life and possible interactions between medications, supplements and cancer therapies.

For patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or other cancer treatments, communication and careful consideration of potential drug, herb and nutrient interactions are particularly important.

IV Therapy in West Kelowna

Okanagan Integrative Health has a dedicated IV therapy suite where our naturopathic physicians provide intravenous therapies when clinically appropriate.

IV therapy delivers selected nutrients or medications directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous line. The specific formulation and treatment recommendations depend on the patient, medical history, clinical indication and treatment goals.

Our naturopathic clinic also provides iron infusions for appropriate patients following the required assessment and laboratory review.

Because IV therapy is a medical procedure, patients are assessed to determine whether treatment is appropriate and which type of therapy should be considered.
